I have an e-mail in to Chappell asking if he did
anything other than cosmetic. I'll let you know.[/quote]

Those sportsters start life pretty fast anyway. Probably the best thing was no one messed with the engine or anything else. Now you can use standard parts and the longevity of stock bikes is pretty good.
Secondly, if someone did get into it... would they do it right?

IMHO, taken from personal experience, stock engines work great. I also have to say to be fair - that after I was forced to fix my bike I did upgrade to a different grind cam and loved the difference.
So- ride the wheels off of it and when you wear it out and have to do some work... You can make an educated decision as to what gets done to it. By that time you will have had time enough to observe any short comings and then can plan for any upgrades.

Right now enjoy it. Learn on it, or learn from it. But most importantly enjoy it, it's a sweet ride.

Thanks.

I put a whole quart of oil in it last Saturday at the Rock Store.
I don't think I've mentioned that.
A guy was asking me about it.
We looked in the oil reservoir
(after figuring out it was just a pull out,
not a screw out :icon_lol: )
and that sucker was very low.

After a whole quart of 10/30 (they had 3 qts. on hand)
it reached the low mark.
So I definitely want to start learning about it.
I've seen somethings on-line for
the 2 different places to put oil (or gear oil, etc.)
a lot of info out there (and here on forum :icon_thumbsup: )
So definitely will pickup the HD manual soon.

Great action pics :icon_clap:
Your bike looks great!!

From the back grounds of your pics...
It looks like that spot where a bunch of videographers hang out and post on youtube.
I'm blanking out on the one guys name, if I think of it I'll post it.
any way -
there are a bunch of collisions and loss of control videos of that spot, cars and motorcycles. Some pretty funny ones with no one really getting hurt too bad. You can probably find it on youtube.

If you get a chance try Ortega Hwy. Go a little later and avoid most of the psychos. If your into a technical challenge do the road over Glendora, there are photographers there also. I left a bunch of my floorboards on that road, just watch out for the very arrogant bicyclist that have no idea about how to properly share the road. 2 & 3 abreast, blind corners and dumb people....deadly cocktail - to the motorcyclist!!

Palomar Observatory: great ride - long from LA tho.

I went through a canyon a couple years back - turned off PCH past that big college, thinking that was part of the ride you had your pics taken?

Thanks!
He takes some real good snaps.
These are large view, super hi-def.
You can zoom in and still get detail.
The 2 pics are about 36 MB total.
That side pic is the 1st time I went by
I was doing a #1 kind of wave.
That was my fave of the side pics.

I'm not pushing the envelope
but just enjoying the "playground"
There are a lot of roads to explore around there.
I'm thinking maybe just go Topanga Canyon
to beach. That's a nice ride too.
But in the canyons, out Mulholland way, mostly just Motorcycles. :icon_thumbsup:
